The ferry to Sassnitz and Trelleborg connects Northern Germany to Sweden with a direct ferry from FRS. This ferry sails you in just under 2.5 hours from Germany to Sweden and vice versa and is the fastest ferry connection between the two countries. FRS Baltic operates this route with the fast ferry Skane Jet. This ferry replaced the Sassnitz-Ystad crossing in early 2023.

Tickets are available again for the 2024 sailings on the Sassnitz to Trelleborg crossing with FRS Baltic.

Sassnitz, situated in Rügen, North Germany, serves as a convenient starting point for ferry travel to Southern Sweden (Skane). The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours on the fast ferry operated by FRS, utilizing a catamaran vessel. Previously, the route connected Sassnitz and Ystad, but the ferry now travels to Trelleborg.

As this ferry is a relatively new crossing, it's barely mentioned online, and because of that is hardly known by travellers. FRS Baltic doesn't seem to work with many ferry ticket companies. This makes this line relatively unknown and even more interesting for travelers who want to avoid crowded ferries.

The alternatives for this ferry are strong; for example, Rostock – Gedser is a popular and well-known connection to cross from Germany to Sweden. And let's not even get started about the most popular connection: Puttgarden – Rodby and then the drive up to Sweden.
