Ferry to Faroer (Torshavn) from Hirtshals

Next to flying to Faroer Island the historical way of travelling to Faroe Islands was overseas. Today there is only one ferry crossing taking you to the beautiful Faroe Islands. This ferry is operated by the Faroese Smyril Line which is connecting the Faroe Islands (Torshavn) to Denmark (Hirtshals) and Iceland.

On this crossing, you'll be traveling on the MS Norröna from Hirtshals to Torshavn. Taking the ferry to the Faroe Islands is the summum of slow travel and whether you are into nature or culture, you will find that the Faroe Islands have plenty to offer.

You can travel by motorbike, car or for example camper on the ferry between Faroer and Denmark. From Danish Hirtshals, you will leave with this cruise ferry and sail in about 40 hours, roughly 1.5 days to Torshavn – Faroe Islands. It is certainly not the most common way to travel to the Faroe Islands but it's a unique and comfortable experience, which is also a Northern Atlantic cruise.

The ferry you use for this crossing is the MS Norröna. The ferries sail once a week for the whole year. The car or camper can also be taken on board if that is the case. The sailing times and days vary so check this well in advance, but in most of cases, you'll be sailing either on a Friday or a Saturday.

With this crossing, you will of course, get a cabin on the boat: with a TV, shower, and toilet. On board, the ship is a swimming pool, sauna, entertainment for the kids, and various restaurants & shops.
