The 5 most beautiful beaches in Formentera

Formentera is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. This small island, somewhat overshadowed by its vibrant neighbour Ibiza, benefits from all tourists on the Balearic Islands. Many people take the ferry from Ibiza to Formentera and enjoy a romantic sunset on the beach. So, are you in Ibiza and do you want to relax on a heavenly, but more quiet beach? These are the 5 most beautiful beaches in Formentera:

1. Playa de Ses Illetes

Ses Illetes is often compared to the Caribbean, because it is a real bounty beach. The turquoise blue sea on either side of the white strip of sand invites you for a refreshing dip. The water is shallow far out into the sea. The long Playa de Ses Illetes has enough space for all beach lovers, although it can be quite busy in high season.

2. Playa de Llevant

Too busy at Ses Illetes? Then walk further to Playa de Llevant. The one and a half kilometre long beach offers a view of the same clear, blue sea. On top of that, this beach is located by a beautiful dune site. When the wind blows from the west, you sit nicely sheltered here and the sea is calm.

3. Cala Saona

Cala Saona is located in the west of Formentera and is known for its breathtaking sunsets. The beach is located in an idyllic bay and has facilities such as beach beds and parasols. You can also have a delicious lunch there and enjoy a cold drink in a beach bar.

4. Playa de Migjorn

On the longest beach in Formentera you will feel the authentic Ibiza vibe when you enjoy a drink in one of the beach bars. Playa de Migjorn stretches along the south coast of the island. Perfect for a long walk on the beach!

5. Playa Cavall d'en Borràs

From this beach on the west side of Formentera you can see Ibiza in the distance. The special thing about this beach is that it borders a beautiful nature reserve with pine trees and juniper berries. This gives it an original Mediterranean atmosphere. The beach is usually quiet and great for families. Children enjoy playing in the white sand and splashing around in the shallow water.
