This ferry started in June 2023, but the ferry company HNL went bankrupt in September 2023. This route connected Northwestern Germany with Kristiansand directly. A good alternative is the ferry to Kiel and Oslo.

Important update: the ferry from Emden to Kristiansand does not sail anymore because of the bankruptcy of the operator, Holland Norway Lines.

The ferry from Emden to Kristiansand started in 2023. This route is the successor to the ferry from the Netherlands to Norway that departed from Eemshaven.
The departure was moved from Eemshaven to Emden due to logistical problems in Eemshaven.
- The ferry will temporarily move to Cuxhaven before Emden-Kristiansand becomes the definitive new route.
If you’re traveling from the Netherlands or via the Netherlands to Norway, this crossing can be a pleasant experience. The harbor of Emden in Germany is only an hour’s drive from the Northern regions of the Netherlands.

Getting to Emden – Car or Public Transport
You can get to Emden port by car. It's only a 10-minute walk from Emden train station to the terminal. And if you're travelling from or through the Netherlands, you can book a shuttle-bus from Groningen Central to the HNL terminal in Emden for €15,-.

While this route is very expensive (Literally can’t understand how they make this work) the ferry I went on 3 days (August) ago was a good experience, the car alarms on deck 2 are bad though.. they should have someone fix this or simply unload the cars on the sea if all alarms go off.
