The ferry from Emden to Kristiansand started in 2023. This route is the successor to the ferry from the Netherlands to Norway that departed from Eemshaven.

The departure was moved from Eemshaven to Emden due to logistical problems in Eemshaven.

• The ferry will temporarily move to Cuxhaven before Emden-Kristiansand becomes the definitive new route.

If you’re traveling from the Netherlands or via the Netherlands to Norway, this crossing can be a pleasant experience. The harbor of Emden in Germany is only an hour’s drive from the Northern regions of the Netherlands.

The Emden-Kristiansand ferry is an overnight crossing of around 18 hours. On this crossing, you'll be sailing with the MS Romantika.

Getting to Emden – Car or Public Transport

You can get to Emden port by car. It's only a 10-minute walk from Emden train station to the terminal. And if you're travelling from or through the Netherlands, you can book a shuttle-bus from Groningen Central to the HNL terminal in Emden for €15,-.
