Genoa-Palermo
The Genoa-Palermo ferry sails in 20 hours and 30 minutes between the north of Italy and Sicily. This route is operated by GNV.
Ferry to Palermo (Sicily) and Genoa
The ferry from Genoa to Palermo, Sicily is a crossing that saves you a very long car journey through Italy. From Genoa to Villa San Giovanni (the shortest crossing to Sicily departs here) is an 1168 km long ride. That's at least 12 hours
The nice thing is that you can book this route quite cheaply if you leave the car behind and do not book a cabin for the night. You then only pay €63 for a single journey. You then just sleep in your chair (which is quite comfortable).
Would you rather spend the night in your own cabin? We can imagine that very well! Fortunately, these are also very advantageous compared to other ferries. For a small additional charge, you have a 1-person cabin. The presidential suite is € 299 but can often be found cheaper on offer.
Even if you want to board a car during the busy summer period, the costs are not too bad. A round trip for two people with a car cost us €440. That included a cabin.
What are the disadvantages?
The ferry gets pretty mixed reviews. The journey goes smoothly for some, but that is not the case for everyone. In any case, bring a good book or other entertainment.
