Sayville – Fire Island
The Sayville-Fire Island Ferry provides a vital link between the picturesque village of Sayville and the enchanting Fire Island. Offering a seamless connection to this idyllic barrier island, the ferry service ensures both residents and visitors can experience the island’s natural beauty and recreational offerings.
From Sayville, you can reach the following destinations:
- Sayville – Cherry Grove
- Sayville – Sailors Haven
- Sayville – Fire Island Pines
- Sayville – Water Island
With the Sayville Ferry service, you can visit the Fire Island Pines and Cherry Grove villages. Additionally, the ferry takes you to the serene Sailors Haven or Water Island, where you can enjoy a delightful day at the beach.
On the ferry, you can only travel on foot, as there are hardly any vehicles on Fire Island. Only a hand-pulled wagon is occasionally brought along. This helps preserve much of the atmosphere and character of the island.
Another interesting point to mention is that the Sayville Ferry Service has been operating since 1894. Nowadays, they do so with five different ferry vessels.
