Singapore ferry map:
The ferry map shows how Singapore functions as a gateway to nearby Indonesian islands. Batam and Bintan are the two main choices, but the best route depends on both your departure terminal in Singapore and the exact port you need after arrival.
HarbourFront is usually the most practical starting point for Batam, with ferries serving Batam Centre, Sekupang and other terminals. Tanah Merah is the main departure point for Bintan, including Bintan Resorts and Tanjung Pinang, and also serves selected Batam routes. Use the interactive map to compare the ports before booking, as choosing the right island but the wrong terminal can leave you with a much longer transfer.

Ferries from Singapore to Batam and Bintan
Batam and Bintan are both easy to reach from Singapore, but they suit different trips. Batam has more ferry terminals and a wider choice of departures, making it useful for short stays, city visits and resorts across different parts of the island. Bintan is more spread out: Bandar Bentan Telani serves the Bintan Resorts area in the north, while Tanjung Pinang is the main arrival point for the city and southern Bintan.
Choose the Indonesian arrival port before comparing departure times or operators. On both islands, a port that looks close on the route map can still be a considerable drive from your hotel.
| Destination | Singapore terminal | Arrival port | Usually best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Batam | HarbourFront or selected Tanah Merah services | Batam Centre | Batam city and general onward travel |
| Western Batam | Mostly HarbourFront | Sekupang or Waterfront | Hotels and activities closer to western Batam |
| Nongsa, Batam | Tanah Merah | Nongsapura | Nongsa resorts and travelers arriving through Changi Airport |
| Bintan Resorts | Tanah Merah | Bandar Bentan Telani | Resorts around Lagoi and northern Bintan |
| Tanjung Pinang, Bintan | Tanah Merah | Sri Bintan Pura | Tanjung Pinang and southern Bintan |
HarbourFront or Tanah Merah?
Choose HarbourFront when you are staying in central Singapore, near Sentosa or when you want the widest choice of Batam departures. HarbourFront MRT is nearby, making the terminal relatively easy to reach by public transportation.
Choose Tanah Merah when you are traveling from Changi Airport, heading to Bintan Resorts or Tanjung Pinang, or staying near Nongsa on Batam. Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is closer to the airport, although it is not directly connected to an MRT station.
What to know before booking
- These are international ferries: bring your passport and allow time for check-in, security and immigration at both ends.
- Check the arrival port: selecting Batam or Bintan is not enough. Both islands have terminals serving very different areas.
- Arrive early: requirements vary by operator, but arriving around 60 to 90 minutes before departure is a sensible starting point.
- Watch the time difference: Batam and Bintan are one hour behind Singapore. Departure and arrival times are normally shown in the local time of each port.
- Leave room before a flight: immigration, baggage handling, weather and ferry delays can affect your return. Avoid a tight connection at Changi Airport.
- Check the current schedule: departure times, routes and operators can change, so confirm your exact sailing before traveling to the terminal.
The interactive map also shows selected ferry links from Singapore to Malaysia and short local boat routes. For most international leisure trips, however, the main decision is between Batam and Bintan, followed by choosing the correct terminal on the island.
