Ferry Routes to Corfu
As shown on the interactive map above, ferry routes to Corfu include a mix of longer international crossings, regional connections, and short routes from the Greek mainland.
Depending on where you’re coming from, you can travel via Italy, the nearby Ionian islands, or take one of the frequent ferries from Igoumenitsa on the mainland. Some routes even connect from as far as northern Italy, including departures from Ancona. This variety of routes makes Corfu one of the best-connected islands in the Ionian Sea.
Ferries from mainland Greece and nearby islands to Corfu
The most frequent and shortest ferry routes to Corfu depart from mainland Greece, especially from Igoumenitsa. Crossings take between 1,5 and 2 hours and run multiple times per day. During summer, it is also possible to hop to Corfu from nearby islands.

Ferries from Italy to Corfu
From Italy, you can travel to Corfu via longer international ferry routes. These crossings often depart from ports such as Brindisi and Ancona. This crossing is ideal for travelers from mainland Europe who want to bring their own vehicle to Corfu.
Ferries from Albania to Corfu
Short ferry crossings from Albania, mainly from Sarandë, provide a quick way to reach Corfu (only 30 mins!). These routes are great if you are already traveling along the Albanian Riviera and want to visit Corfu. Due to the short crossing, even a day trip to Corfu is well worth it.
Getting your car to Corfu: the main ferry options
If you’re taking a car to Corfu, there are three main ways to travel: a short mainland crossing, a longer ferry from Italy, or a quick hop from Albania. Each option fits a different type of journey, depending on where you’re coming from.
- From the mainland (fastest option):
Most travelers use the short ferry from Igoumenitsa. Crossings run frequently throughout the day and take around 90 minutes, making this the easiest and most flexible option. - From Italy (longer crossings):
If you’re driving from elsewhere in Europe, ferries depart from ports like Bari, Brindisi, and Ancona. These are larger ships, often with overnight sailings, and crossing times range from around 7,5 to 20 hours. - From Albania (short hop):
Car ferries from Saranda take just 50 minutes and are popular for day trips or combining two countries in one itinerary. - Pricing and planning:
Short crossings from Igoumenitsa are usually the most affordable. Routes from Italy are more expensive and often require advance booking, especially in summer.
Most ferries arrive in Corfu Town, but some routes from Igoumenitsa dock in Lefkimmi in the south. If your accommodation is in the north, arriving in Lefkimmi can add over an hour of driving.
“If you are coming from Italy, book a cabin at least 5 months early for the summer. These ships are like floating hotels and the beds sell out long before the car spaces do. For the short Igoumenitsa trip, just head to the Domestic pier and look for the boat with its ramp down. It is usually the next one to leave.”
