The ferry to Schiermonnikoog departs from Lauwersoog. This route brings thousands of visitors to the island every year. In addition to this main route, a small boat is available in peak season for a tour to Ameland.

Schiermonnikoog is the fifth largest inhabited Wadden Island in Friesland Province. Tourism is this quiet island’s primary focus. The island is 18 km long. A daily ferry service operated by Wagenborg provides a connection with the mainland. Schiermonnikoog was designated a Dutch National Park in 1989. The Wadden Sea has been a World Heritage Site since 2009.
